Today begins our “Do What You Can!” campaign, through which we hope to raise $120,000 by October 10th, so that 127 students can attend school during this 2025/26 academic year. This will cover school fees and supplies plus six months of operating expenses in Liberia. Raising this sum is a large challenge, but we have a great head start with a $30,000 matching grant—every gift you give will be doubled!

In the face of overwhelming challenges, our students do what they can to hold on to their hopes, dreams, and dignity. We invite you to partner with Keyara’s Gift by doing what you can to help. Each of our students has their own story—they are not just numbers, but children with names, families, dreams, and challenges. Over the next month, we’ll share a few of these stories giving you a glimpse into their lives and showing how your support can bring hope and make a difference.

Jacqueline’s Story

At just three years old, Jacqueline lost both of her parents and remained in her rural Liberian village. When she was seven, her grandmother traveled from Monrovia to the village to bring her to the city, hoping life would be better.

But survival was still a daily struggle. For two years, while her friends went off to school, Jacqueline stayed home to care for her grandmother and sell small goods in the market—just enough for them to afford food. She prayed quietly:

“Eh God, who will help me go to school like my friends?”

At nine years old, Jacqueline’s prayer was finally answered when she met the Keyara’s Gift team on the Old Road in Monrovia. She was welcomed into the program, which covered her school fees and supplies, and beyond that, provided medical care and feminine hygiene products. For the first time, she had everything she needed to step into a classroom with confidence.

Jacqueline is wearing a bright pink polo with logo standing outdoors, smiling slightly. Lush green foliage forms the background, creating a vibrant setting.

Now 16 years old and in 9th grade, Jacqueline is thriving. Her favorite subjects are science and history, and she dreams of becoming a doctor so she can help save lives in rural communities like the one where she grew up.

“Keyara’s Gift restored my morale among my friends. I used to be laughed at for not being in school. Now I am hopeful for my future.”

Jacqueline’s story is just one of many. In 2019, more than 3.1 million people in Liberia—62.9% of the population—lived on less than $1.90 per day. That’s why we’re launching our “Do What You Can” campaign. No one can do everything, but together, if we each do what we can, we can make a difference!
